Ah, the beauty community, a true reprieve. In this crazy world, there are few things that we can all celebrate and relax with the way we can with a amazing scent or lustrous lip gloss we share a love for. It’s just pure pleasure that every age, race, gender, and economic state can enjoy together – and ruminate over like nothing else. And boy, can I ruminate on beauty products – and you may know that by now. But I love to listen to other voices do the same, and constantly monitor these channels for new, better, greater, and classic products that I may not know about – yet.
So I thought I would post *some* of my favorite beauty loving ladies today, in the case you might share the stalking instinct for them too – if only I could gather them all together for a beauty super-panel, it would be heyday. Things to be accomplished in due time, no doubt.
She’s Calgary based, self-deprecating, and thereby disarmingly beautiful and witty. Young and restless, with a passion for media and beauty. I can’t wait to see where this girl goes. Her recommends are practical and she tells you when she hates something. That’s why I like her!
Not sure what her last name is, but Anna feels like your best friend from high school that’s stuck by you through the years…and who better to gab about beauty with? She’s pretty in the most natural way, does mostly wearable daytime makeup looks, and chats honestly and regularly about some of the best brands in the world from her UK home base. She pals around with UK Blogger a-list and seems as relatable as your sister. She has great brand picks, especially in the skin care arena.
The reigning queen of skincare in London with so many years of experience, you’ll be dotting those i’s and crossing those t’s like a perfect little student when you listen to her lecture on soaps (the right kind: balms and cream cleansers; the wrong kind: foaming), serums, acids, peels, and all the rest of things her high beauty IQ has formed very educated opinions about. She breaks things down right to the science, and sets you straight in your routine, fast. You’ll be cleaning out that cabinet and hauling out the trash, hoping no one knows about the dozens of products you are soon to learn you bought in pure skincare ignorance. Thanks, Caroline. I love a straight shooter.
Former model, new mom, and now career blogger Ruth Crilly is fabulous to watch since she’s stunning, but not “perfect”, which makes her that much prettier; she wears her thoughts on her sleeve, and floats through life making it all look so easy you might want to hate her but you never could – she’s down to earth, loves beauty as much as any girl, and never looks like an anime pinup, always like she just breezed in from a day at the beach. Her reviews are thoughtful, careful, and her love of literature permeates her chat.
Sali is a career writer and journalist with The Guardian who dove into beauty head first wit her brainchild, the In The Bathroom Series. These are my favorite videos of all time, all of them are over an hour of real conversation about products, products, and more products from some of the masters like Mary Greenwell and Charlotte Tilbury. She also just launched one with Ruth Crilly.
To not include her would be to leave the “B” out of beauty. She’s the best in the world at what she does, she shares with skill, depth of experience and class, and you just want to sit up straighter when she talks, she is so inspiring. Oh, and she does Kate Winslet’s makeup. On the side. A genius, a teacher, and the best in the world.
Kathleen is super sweet, brimming with personality, careful in her reviews, and budget conscious most of the time. She brings you close in to her thoughts and ideas, and the informality of her videos is nice, there’s not too much overproduction of fluff and I like that. Super pretty girl next door that can do lashes and winged liner like a pro, with cute pups that make cameos in most of videos as well.
