Kypris Companions

Kypris, an emerging grassroots-type organic and wildcrafted skincare brand with a talent for oils and serums that has put them on the high end skincare map – is branching out into other areas of skincare, namely with cleansers, creams, and masks. Usually when a company does this so soon, I raise an eyebrow and don’t expect too much. However, clearly someone down at the Kypris labs has been clued in on all things skincare, because every product I try form them makes me want more of their inventive and high tech approach to organic.

I am a cleanser addict, cleanser snob, all of the above, et. al: I hold cleanser to the highest standards and scrutinize them excessively – see here and here for example. And, the Kypris Cleanser, after one or two uses, became my everyday cleanse immediately. This is due to the fact that I am frequently torn between balms and gel or cream cleanses and this one is hybrid of both. It works like a balm cleanse, because you massage it into dry skin and the moringa and shea oils break down makeup, residue, sweat and all the rest, and then you rinse, or better yet wipe it off with a warm compress. But this cleanser has a gel consistency and texture, and even a velvet-like quality to it. It feels so soft at first you may not think it’s cleansing very deep. But after you rinse, it leaves behind the cleanest, softest, most delicate skin feeling. No dryness, tightness, or slickness from the oils (which also include organic prickly pear and Baobab). Just soft buttery skin perfectly prepped for the next steps of skincare, which for me usually means the Kypris Beauty Elixir I .

Before I tell you about the sunscreen, let me just say I really was starting to think that there was no way to create a really good organic sunscreen, it just seemed you always had to compromise when it came to getting all natural and sun protection in the same bottle – until I got a hold of Kypris’ Pot of Shade Heliotropic. Wow, wow. wow. They have done it, and done it right. The name is so cute and makes you want to try it – but this product is no gimmick. I absolutely love it. First of all, it’s packed with an insane amount of active, organic ingredients that I will just list for you right here:

Zinc Non nano, non-irritating, sustainably sourced zinc for broad spectrum SPF 30 protection against sun damage.

Sweet Iris Stem Cells Enhance the skin to appear more plump, smooth, and luminous.

Tamanu An organic, co-op grown seed oil imparts a beautiful glow.

Chaparral One of Earth’s oldest living plants yields a wildcrafted extract rich in botanical wisdom and lignans that impart an antioxidant-like effect.

Sunflower These local, organic heliotropes deliver a wealth of fatty acids and beta carotene.

Probiotics For deliciously hydrated skin.

Sea Algae A burst of soothing hydration for soft, supple skin as you bask in the Beauty of your days…

…and you can really feel the difference…between this and any other sunscreen you have tried. But the best part about the cream is that it gives skin a super soft focus, lovely glow all by itself – and read: no whitecast, whatsoever.  Consequently it works as the perfect primer, since that little glow enhances your makeup beautifully. I mean as a primer, it’s better than about 80% of the market out there when it comes to the silicone based primers, but it’s organic, with skincare in and it has an SPF of 30! It is also gorgeous and goes on beautifully over your makeup. A genius, genius product that I can’t overemphasize! Lastly – my personal over the top moment for this product came when I detected the delicate, creamy notes of Iris lightly laced in. (Iris is one my very favorite notes). The case became quickly closed for me after the scent factored in. And Kypris is quickly becoming a true hero brand.
